On Tuesday at the World Water Week summit in Stockholm, WaterAid launched WASHwatch, "an online platform for monitoring government policy commitments and budgets for water supply, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)," according to PLoS' "Speaking of Medicine" blog.
Genkyotex, the leading developer of NOX inhibitors to treat oxygen-radical mediated diseases, announced today that Phase I studies have demonstrated excellent safety and tolerability following single and multiple oral doses of GKT137831, the first in class NOX 1 and 4 inhibitor. In addition, GKT137831 demonstrated a favourable pharmacokinetic profile in these subjects.
Like many other conditions, obesity is caused by an interplay between genetic and environmental factors. While efforts to combat the obesity epidemic will need to include changes in diet and exercise, insights into the genes involved may also help with prevention and treatment.
What started as an experiment to probe brain circuits involved in compulsive behavior has revealed a surprising connection with obesity.
New research suggests concussion may not significantly impair symptoms or cognitive skills for one gender over another, however, women may still experience greater symptoms and poorer cognitive performance at preseason testing.
