Clinical researchers from Cornell Weil Medical School and University of Chicago Medical School will present research conducted on Raman Molecular Imaging's ability to differentiate diagnostic dilemmas in lung and kidney tumors at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology's 100th Annual Meeting, Feb. 26-March 4 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, San Antonio, Texas.
The concept sounds ideal: vaccines made of DNA that could be taken in by other cells and give instructions for how to fight off different diseases. The reality, however, has fallen short. Although DNA vaccines have been around for about 15 years and shown lots of promise for HIV, SARS and influenza vaccines during preclinical testing in mice, researchers have yet to make them potent enough to be helpful in humans.
Codman Neuro*, part of DePuy Synthes Companies of Johnson & Johnson, announced the European launch of the REVIVE™ SE Thrombectomy Device, a next generation clot removal device offering enhanced navigation through the cerebral vasculature and rapid restoration of blood flow to the brain after an ischemic stroke.
"Brain Computer Interface" pursues the objective to extract information from human brain waves in order to provide persons suffering from severe disabilities with a communication system.
Neurosurgery researchers at UC Davis Health System have used a new, leading-edge stem cell therapy to promote the growth of bone tissue following the removal of cervical discs - the cushions between the bones in the neck - to relieve chronic, debilitating pain.
