Discussing the meeting of G20 leaders taking place this week in Los Cabos, Mexico, the Financial Times states, "Food security, long only a concern for aid advocates and farming ministers, is now hotly debated among G20 leaders."
Lawmakers who are pushing for foreign aid budget cuts and placing global health and food security programs outside the realm of national security are focused on "very short-term financial gains" and, in turn, are discounting the long-term benefits of helping societies cut their disease burdens, Julie Fischer, head of the Stimson Center's Global Health Security project, said in an interview Tuesday with the Kaiser Daily Global Health Policy Report's Jaclyn Schiff.
In the meta-analysis, Luoping Zhang, University of California, Berkeley, and her team pursued the question of whether people who used plant protection products containing glyphosate had an increased risk of contracting Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, a form of lymph node cancer.
CRB Bio II, a VC Fund managed by CRB Inverbío, and ADE Capital Sodical, have committed a €3M seed investment round in Raman Health Technologies, a new start up company developing a new non invasive diagnostic technology platform based on Raman laser and Infrarred spectroscopy. Its first indication will be for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer disease in a blood sample.
