Midwest Compassion Center and Dr. Alan Shackelford join forces in the fight to treat epilepsy through the use of medical cannabis at their Will County dispensary. With growing concerns over the potentially negative side effects of pharmaceuticals and their inability to provide adequate symptom control in as many as 30% of patients with seizures, Dr. Shackelford and MCC will collaborate on research with the goal of developing new treatment options for patients dealing with a debilitating illness or condition, including seizures.
Nektar Therapeutics today announced positive data from a Phase 1 clinical study of NKTR-181 evaluating multiple ascending oral doses of NKTR-181 over an 8-day treatment period in healthy subjects.
Brazilian researchers from D'Or Institute for Research and Education, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Federal University of Bahia have demonstrated in laboratory that apigenin, a substance found in parsley, thyme, chamomile and red pepper, improves neuron formation and strengthens the connections between brain cells.
Patients treated for hypercholesterolaemia in clinical practice may not derive additional benefit from very intensive statin treatment, say researchers.
