University of Virginia School of Medicine scientists have developed important new resources that will aid the battle against cancer and advance cutting-edge genomics research.
According to scientists from the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics and Policy (CDDEP), Princeton University, ETH Zurich and the University of Antwerp in Belgium, overuse of antibiotics has led to a situation that super bugs or bugs that are resistant to most antibiotics are on an exponential rise. These microbes are typically not responsive to the antibiotics that they were initially responsive to.
Colin Conine and Emma Watson, PhD students in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, received the 2014 Harold M. Weintraub Graduate Student Award for research into the mechanisms governing epigenetic inheritance and the complex interactions between diet, gene expression and physiology.
ChemRar High Tech Center, the Russian pharmaceutical investment and R&D group, and Lancet, Russian Distribution Company, have announced collaboration for research, development and commercialization of new medicines in Russia with the intention to stimulate the innovative development of the Russian pharmaceutical industry.
