Open Monoclonal Technology, Inc. (OMT) today announced its new human antibody platform using the first genetically engineered rats expressing a human antibody repertoire. The company, which also created the first targeted knockout rats in 2009, is now cross-breeding the knockout animals with the rats expressing human antibodies to finalize its platform.
It turns out that the rigid "line in the sand" over which the human sex chromosomes--the Y and X-- go to avoid crossing over is a bit blurrier than previously thought. Contrary to the current scientific consensus, Arizona State University assistant professor Melissa Wilson Sayres has led a research team that has shown that X and Y DNA swapping may occur much more often.
Women are significantly more likely than men to experience implant failure after primary total hip arthroplasty, suggests research published in JAMA Internal Medicine.
Biotectix, LLC announced today the acquisition of all significant assets owned by Chameleon BioSurfaces Ltd. (Cambridge, United Kingdom). Financial terms were not disclosed.
