A new review article in the June issue of Focal Points, a monthly publication of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, calls keratoprosthesis a viable alternative to standard corneal transplantation to help people suffering from corneal blindness.
A study demonstrated that the social contacts created in different activity settings affect interventions needed to control outbreaks.
Decision Resources, one of the world's leading research and advisory firms for pharmaceutical and healthcare issues, finds that a therapy that would improve median overall survival over IFL (bolus 5-fluorouracil, generics/leucovorin, generics/irinotecan*) plus bevacizumab (Roche/Genentech/Chugai's Avastin), would earn a 60 percent patient share in stage IV colorectal cancer, according to surveyed U.S. oncologists. In Europe, such an agent would earn a 50 percent patient share, according to surveyed European oncologists.
Impax Laboratories, Inc. today reported strong growth in the second quarter of 2010 due to an increase in sales from its Global Product sales channel. Total revenue increased $94.7 million to $153.1 million driven by continued strong sales of generic Adderall XR and generic Flomax for which there were no amounts in the second quarter of 2009, as well as increased sales of the Company's fenofibrate products.
In the meantime, the budget also proposes $5.5 billion for "risk corridors" in 2015 to pay insurers who find themselves with a higher number of sicker and older people they must insure. Some call that program a bailout.
