Most of the state regulators allowing insurers to renew canceled plans, as proposed by President Barack Obama, are led by Republican governors who have opposed the law. Of the eight refusing to carry out the policy, six are in Democrat-led states that have embraced the law and who fear the extensions would undermine it.
A drug that targets a specific type of lung cancer shows a dramatic response in more than half of the people who take it. The drug, called crizotinib, has been in clinical trials since 2006, and the results from the largest group of patients to take it within the first of these clinical trials are being presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Oxford Performance Materials, Inc. (OPM) and Eastern Plastics Incorporation (EPI) have come to an agreement which enables EPI to sell machined components produced from OXPEKK® implantable polymer. OPM's OXPEKK-IG products have undergone ISO-10993 biocompatibility testing and are supported by a FDA Masterfile.
Some patients who undergo weight loss surgery to combat obesity don't lose the pounds they expect or they gain weight back. A team of researchers at seven institutions across the United States is working to find out why.
