For most patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), the risk of experiencing a cardiovascular related death is greater than the risk of progressing to end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
Four new H1N1 influenza vaccination clinics have been scheduled by the Macomb County Health Department. Everyone over 6 months of age can receive the vaccine at these clinics. They are free of charge and will take place Dec. 14, 17, 19 and 21 at Bethesda Christian Church in Sterling Heights.
Syntaxin, a biotechnology company developing novel biopharmaceuticals to control cell secretion, today announces its partner Allergan, Inc has initiated two Phase II trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of its re-targeted endopeptidase drug candidate AGN-214868. The Phase II trials will be focused on patients with post herpetic neuralgia (PHN) and overactive bladder.
Ardea Biosciences, Inc. announced positive results from two clinical studies of RDEA594 in combination with currently marketed drugs for the treatment of gout patients, febuxostat (Uloric®) and allopurinol.
Pregnant women with HIV may not receive medications that are in line with current recommendations, according to a recent study.
