Despite improved therapy, only one out of every two adult patients survive acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). The mean survival time for this disease, which predominantly occurs in the elderly, is less than a year for patients over 65 years. It is assumed that leukaemic stem cells, which cannot be completely eliminated during treatment, are the origin of relapse.
Repligen Corporation today announced preliminary financial results for fiscal year 2010 which ended March 31, 2010. Total revenue for the year is expected to be $21.0 million, including $10.3 million of bioprocessing product revenue and $10.7 million of royalty and other revenue. Research and development expenses are expected to be between $13.8-$14.2 million and selling, general and administrative expenses between $6.8-$7.2 million.
In advance of February's Heart Month, a new survey finds that 70 per cent of Canadians are concerned about the level of sodium in their diet. There is also vast confusion around sodium: over one-third of Canadians claim to know the upper sodium limit yet nearly nine out of 10 people get it wrong; and more than half of the population does not understand sodium information on nutrition labels. Canadians consume on average 3,092 milligrams of sodium daily, more than double the recommended amount of 1200 to 1500 milligrams.
