As part of its continued commitment to hemophilia care around the world, Wyeth, now a part of Pfizer, has pledged more than 40 million international units (IUs) of factor concentrates to the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH).
The role of nutrition as part of a healthy lifestyle is well understood by the medical profession but whether this information is easily conveyed to patients is another matter. How much confidence GPs have in providing nutritional advice to their patients is now the subject of research by Griffith University's Dr Lauren Ball.
A recent study by researchers at the University of Kansas and published on the preprint server bioRxiv* reveals that Mac1 protein implicated in the infection process of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has a strikingly similar structure and activity in all coronaviruses – suggesting that possible future treatments targeting this protein may exert broad antiviral activity.
As a result of a worldwide cooperative movement, the absolute driving ban for people with epilepsy (PWE) has been lifted in Japan. Since 1960, people who have epilepsy have been banned from driving in Japan.
