In a visible sign of data sharing leadership, Vivli, the Center for Clinical Research Da,ta has committed to serving the open science community through the launch of a COVID-19 portal for sharing of completed interventional treatment trial data.
A protein produced by the central nervous system's support cells seems to play two opposing roles in protecting nerve cells from damage, an animal study by Johns Hopkins researchers suggests: Decreasing its activity seems to trigger support cells to gear up their protective powers, but increasing its activity appears to be key to actually use those powers to defend cells from harm.
Research team from the University of Jena clarifies the mechanism of gliotoxin, a mycotoxin from the fungus Aspergillus fumigatus. The researchers present their findings in the current issue of the specialist journal Cell Chemical Biology
Against the backdrop of some of the globe's fastest growing HIV epidemics in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, a report launched today at the XVIII International AIDS conference in Vienna makes the case for a new model for scaling up treatment and prevention of HIV amongst Injecting Drug Users.
