Results of a statewide pain survey revealed that chronic pain is widespread among Pennsylvania women but often left untreated.
Alnara Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a pharmaceutical company developing novel, non-systemic orally-delivered protein therapeutics for the treatment of metabolic diseases, announced today that results from a landmark, international Phase 3 study of the long-term safety and nutritional benefits of liprotamase for the treatment of pancreatic insufficiency in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) will be presented at the 23rd Annual North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC) being held October 15-17, 2009 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Record numbers of soldiers are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with serious spinal cord injuries (SCI). Medical advancements can help heal their physical wounds, but little is known about how these veterans re-engage with their communities and rebuild meaningful lives. "How do they transition back to family and community life? How do they adjust to their physical impairments? And how do they reconfigure their homes, their work and their lives?" asked Cathy Lysack, professor of occupational therapy and gerontology at Wayne State University.
New research from the University of Alabama at Birmingham finds genetic variants that occur in nature and lay the groundwork for future studies of diseases and treatments in humans.
The Baltimore Sun on Sunday examined how the lack of progress toward the "goal" of ensuring that all U.S. residents have affordable health coverage "is causing a slow-motion health care crisis that is already threatening the well-being of millions."
