Bruegger's Bagels kicks off its annual fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals today with a coffee campaign that benefits children's hospitals across the U.S.
"[T]he House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) [on Wednesday] approved the FY 2013 Foreign Relations Authorization Act [.pdf] that it hopes will be the first authorizing bill to pass Congress in a decade," Casey Dunning of the Center for Global Development (CGD) writes in this post in the center's "Rethinking U.S. Foreign Assistance" blog.
Idera Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today presented data on the mechanism of action of IMO-3100, an antagonist of Toll-like Receptor (TLR) 7 and TLR9, in a preclinical primate model at the Keystone Symposia conference "Tolerance and Autoimmunity" being held February 21-26 in Taos, New Mexico. Idera is developing IMO-3100 for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. The presentation entitled "IMO-3100, a novel antagonist, suppresses TLR7- and TLR9-mediated immune responses in non-human primates" was made by Idera scientists.
A new study led by researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania has determined that a gene-based method for selecting patients' doses of the popular heart medication warfarin is no better than standardized dosing methods. The study was presented today at the 2013 Scientific Sessions of the American Heart Association and published simultaneously in the New England Journal of Medicine.
AMA Victoria has urged the State to look deeper into liquor licensing breaches and has alleged that there have been only four prosecutions out of the near 15,200 breaches. There were 1,200 venues who were reportedly supplying liquor "other than in accordance with the license". AMA Victoria has asked the state government to introduce harsher penalties for venue operators that breach their liquor licensing conditions.
