The team led by Manuel Serrano, ICREA researcher and Head of the Cellular Plasticity and Disease Lab at IRB Barcelona, has been awarded the Proof of Concept grant by the European Research Council.
The Center for Global Health Policy's "Science Speaks" blog examines the potential impacts of a proposed anti-homosexuality bill in Uganda, writing that the bill "would stand as an obstacle to both access to health care and to the ability of health care providers to even offer services," making prevention of "the bill's passage a matter of life and death, as well as of rights and dignity."
The Food and Drug Administration last month sent criminal investigation agents with search warrants into nine storefronts across Central Florida that help customers order drugs from pharmacies in Canada and overseas at big discounts.
Excellus BlueCross BlueShield says it's dropping out of public health insurance programs for the poor and disabled. The insurer has notified doctors and other providers it's withdrawing from the Medicaid managed care and Family Health Plus programs because it expects to lose about $100 million on those programs this year. The move will affect more than 22,000 central New Yorkers (10/15).
