Thanks to a two year, $974,024 NIH-funded ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) grant, Saint Louis University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville researchers are working to find better ways to manage chronic pain by treating neuroinflammation.
Clinical trials of a new immunotherapy, pembrolizumab, have shown that it prolongs life significantly for patients with bladder cancer and is active against a rare sub-type of melanoma, called mucosal melanoma.
Researchers at Aalto University have developed a simple method for reducing the amount of phosphorus in the wastewater of a pulp mill. The method is called simultaneous precipitation using iron sulphate. A separate treatment stage is not required, as the precipitation takes place simultaneously with the actual biological wastewater treatment.
A new Molecular Database Project initiated by the International Association for the Study of Lung will accelerate the understanding of lung cancer biology, clinical care and care delivery on a global scale and will improve the prognosis and optimal treatment of lung cancer across time and space, according to an editorial in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, an official journal of the IASLC.
