Next milestone in the development of bionic arm prostheses with major contribution from the Medical University of Vienna: in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Center for Extreme Bionics) and the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Gothenburg, Oskar Aszmann's team in the Clinical Laboratory for Bionic Limb Reconstruction at MedUni Vienna's Department of Surgery has developed the world's first fully integrated bionic arm prosthesis that is ready to use - in keeping with the motto "Plug and Play".
In experiments in mice, Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers say they have developed a way to successfully transplant certain protective brain cells without the need for lifelong anti-rejection drugs.
"The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), through its partnership with the Millennium Challenge Account-Lesotho, is helping Lesotho address key challenges in its health sector through a $122 million investment in health infrastructure and health systems," IIP Digital reports.
Today's FDA approval of the monoclonal antibody Aduhelm (aducanumab) to treat patients with Alzheimer's disease reflects years of significant advances in Alzheimer's research. This is the first new Alzheimer's drug approved in 17 years and the first shown to modify the course of the disease, which FDA believes will lead to slowing of patients' cognitive decline.
The World Health Organization (WHO) is attempting to clarify from China, reports that the government there encouraged farmers to use a human anti-viral drug to treat birds infected with a deadly strain of avian flu.
