Icotinib has been found to be noninferior to gefitinib in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer, according to reports from the phase III Chinese double-blind ICOGEN study.
Dr. Barry Reiner announced that he is now recruiting children and adults with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes for Protege Encore, a randomized, placebo-controlled Phase III clinical trial. This is the second of two Phase III studies testing the safety and efficacy of an investigational drug called teplizumab. The first study, known as Protege, has completed enrollment of more than 530 subjects with type 1 diabetes. There is currently no approved therapy to slow the progression of type 1 diabetes.
A new study that compared HIV-positive women over 50 years of age with their younger HIV-infected cohorts found that while the older women were less likely to be sexually active and to report condomless sex with a male partner, those who were sexually active were not as likely to undergo screening for gonorrhea, chlamydia, or syphilis than their younger counterparts.
Endologix, Inc., developer of minimally invasive treatments for aortic disorders, announced today that it has conducted further evaluation of the patent infringement lawsuit filed against the company last week by Cook Medical, and of the patents asserted in the lawsuit.
