Size doesn't matter — when it comes to physical barriers in the workplace. A new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study found larger barriers were not statistically better than smaller physical barriers in protecting against severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
Investigators say that deaf children who are given cochlear implants before the age of 30 months are more able to combine what they hear and what they see than those who receive their implants when they are older.
A panel of officials that decides matters on organ transplants called Monday for a review of the guidelines for issuing organs to children and created a special appeals process after two cases of children who need lung transplants drew congressional and judicial attention.
A team of researchers from Columbia University Medical Center, Weill Cornell Medical College, and Brandeis University has devised a wholly new approach to the treatment of Alzheimer's disease involving the so-called retromer protein complex. Retromer plays a vital role in neurons, steering amyloid precursor protein (APP) away from a region of the cell where APP is cleaved, creating the potentially toxic byproduct amyloid-beta, which is thought to contribute to the development of Alzheimer's.
Intra-Cellular Therapies, Inc. today announced results from studies demonstrating the anti-Parkinson and other beneficial effects of ITI-002 (IC200214), the Company's novel and selective phosphodiesterase type I (PDE1) inhibitor.
