According to a new study in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, almost 75 percent of US adults do not comply with public health guidelines recommending two or more muscle-strengthening exercise sessions a week, with nearly 60 percent of the population doing no MSE at all.
The New York Times reports that "In a last effort to give the Senate a bipartisan health care bill," Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., "the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee circulated a comprehensive proposal on Sunday to overhaul the health care system and proposed a new fee on insurance companies to help pay for coverage of the uninsured."
USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah on Friday in Iowa described the Obama administration's international agricultural development effort, Feed the Future, as a flagship effort for his agency and a key plank in the administration's global development strategy, but said it can't succeed without more support, CongressDaily reports.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and a group of more than 25 partner organizations unveiled a new strategy to fight some of the most neglected tropical diseases that destroy the lives and health of poor people.
