Women with polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS, lost significantly more weight when they took two drugs that are traditionally used to treat diabetes, rather than either drug alone, a study from Slovenia demonstrates. Scientists and public health officials, wary that the H5N1 avian influenza virus could trigger an influenza pandemic, have looked to past pandemics, including the 1918 "Spanish Flu," for insight into pandemic planning.

(Other OTC:BVTI) today announced at the Active Immunotherapeutics Forum in Barcelona, Spain, that the Company is targeting mantle cell lymphoma, in addition to follicular lymphoma, as a next indication for its personalized cancer vaccine, BiovaxID. At the conference, the Company reviewed positive data from an open label Phase II mantle cell lymphoma clinical trial and reported plans to meet with the FDA later this year to discuss a pathway to seek regulatory approval for this hematological indication for which there is no current consensus standard-of-care.
India plans to establish a central foreign aid agency, "believed to be modeled on" USAID, "to prevent funds from being misused and delays in aid delivery," the Guardian reports. "The agency will reportedly be called the Indian Agency for Partnership in Development, overseeing $11.3bn over the next five to seven years," the newspaper writes.
