CryoLife, Inc., an implantable biological medical device and cardiovascular tissue processing company, and Cardiogenesis Corporation, a leading developer of surgical products used in the treatment of patients with refractory angina resulting from diffuse coronary artery disease, today announced that the boards of directors of both companies have approved a definitive agreement under which CryoLife will acquire all of the outstanding shares of Cardiogenesis for $0.457 per share.
Although there is an effective vaccine for hepatitis B and public health officials have a strong sense of who is at highest risk for the infectious liver disease, tens of thousands of people in the United States contract the virus every year. According to a new study by researchers at Brown University, missed opportunities to administer the vaccine continue to be a reason why infections persist.
