Further helping to secure public health, a second round of revised quality standards for the widely used blood thinner heparin became effective today, the U.S. Pharmacopeial (USP) Convention announced. Working closely with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the pharmaceutical industry, and other regulatory and scientific bodies, USP started initial revisions in 2008 after adverse reactions and deaths resulted from heparin intentionally adulterated with over-sulfated chondroitin sulfate (OSCS).
Brady Bowman, a 19-year-old student at the University of Colorado-Boulder, and two friends strolled down 11th Street, all sporting matching neck gaiters branded with the Thomas' English Muffins logo. He had received an entire box of the promotional gaiters.
The unprecedented growth and promise of using thermal ablation to target and kill cancer is the subject of the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology's August supplement, "Thermal Ablation 2010 At the Crossroads of Past Success, Current Goals and Future Technology."
