Guyana Health Minister Dr. Leslie Ramsammy has outlined health progress being made in his country despite high levels of poverty and major floods that affected hundreds of thousands of people earlier this year.
QRxPharma Limited announced today positive results of its Phase 2 comparative proof-of-concept study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of its IV (intravenous) formulation of morphine plus oxycodone versus IV morphine alone for the treatment of moderate to severe post-operative pain in patients following hip replacement surgery. The main findings demonstrated that QRxPharma's formulation of MoxDuo IV resulted in fewer side effects and offered better pain relief than morphine alone.
Carol Berkowitz, MD, and Mallory D. Witt, MD, lead researchers at the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, received the Serge & Yvette Dadone Clinical Teaching Award in Honor of Saleh Salehmoghaddam, M.D., a peer-reviewed recognition of their "outstanding dedication, innovation, and sustained excellence in clinical and classroom teaching," according to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, which presented the awards.
Men who experience high levels of sexual harassment are much more likely than women to induce vomiting and take laxatives and diuretics in an attempt to control their weight, according to a surprising finding by Michigan State University researchers.
Douglas J. Wiebe, PhD, assistant professor of Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine will present portions of an ongoing study about the daily activities of youth and their risk of being violently injured.
