A new study suggests that tall people are more likely to get cancers because they have more number of cells that can undergo dangerous mutations.
For individuals with limited resources, "health care" may consist of a series of unrelated visits to different doctors, clinics, even emergency departments—siloed, episodic care when needed. Rutgers Eric B. Chandler Health Center, a comprehensive, family-oriented community health center, has been working hard to change that experience.
Doctors and AIDS advocates from AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), which provides AIDS medical care to more than 138,000 individuals in 23 countries worldwide, will host a press conference at the International AIDS Conference in Vienna on Monday, July 19th at 12 noon (Media Center, Room PCR #3) to reiterate their call on the United States to honor the its landmark commitment to PEPFAR (the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), the successful US global AIDS program.
In a multiethnic, middle-aged and older study population, the prevalence of myocardial scars (evidence of a heart attack) was nearly 8 percent, of which nearly 80 percent were unrecognized by electrocardiography or clinical evaluation, according to a study in the November 10 issue of JAMA.
The overhaul includes $1.7 trillion in new spending over the next decade - which is being eyed by members of Congress for various reasons. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times reports on a mental health coverage gap in the health law's effort to expand access to health care, and The Washington Post reports on how employer challenges to the law are taking shape.
