A new target for nitric oxide has been revealed in studies of how it inhibits the growth of Salmonella. This bacterium is a common cause of food-poisoning.
Prosolia, Inc. and AB SCIEX announced today that they have entered into a license agreement for technologies developed by Dr. Gary Van Berkel and his colleagues of Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
"Microbicides, vaccines and other new approaches will one day join proven HIV-prevention strategies, including condoms, male circumcision and clean needles. How soon that day comes will depend on whether funders and the scientific community can develop the more collaborative approaches to HIV prevention research needed to address this fast-moving epidemic," Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise leaders Alan Bernstein, executive director, and Peter Piot, chair, write in a Globe and Mail opinion piece.
One Call Medical, the nation's leading provider of diagnostic testing (including MRI and CT scans) and specialty services (e.g. transportation and translation), today announced findings from its Diagnostic Management Program, revealing that on average, a typical workers' compensation payer may have as much as two-thirds of its diagnostic radiology referrals go "unmanaged," leading to overpayments, inefficiencies, and quality issues in the diagnostic referral, scheduling, and results process.
