With more than 1,500 eyes, not much escapes the fruit fly's sight. Now, a new research report in the journal GENETICS (http://www.genetics.org), describes how researchers from the United States and Ireland used those eyes to "see" new proteins necessary for memory.
After all the lifting, hauling and wrapping, worn out gift givers may blame the season's physical strain for any shoulder soreness they are feeling.
German officials have confirmed that two swans found on a beach on the Baltic island of Rugen have tested positive for the H5N1 bird flu virus.
