Sanofi, Diabetes UK and JDRF today announce the publication of IMPACT 2 in the journal Diabetic Medicine. This new study shows that, if sustained, even modest improvement in blood glucose levels can provide significantly improved outcomes for the 3.5 million people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK.
Scientists from Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School Department of Ophthalmology have used the power of new genomic technology to discover that microbes that commonly infect the eye have special, previously unknown properties. These properties are predicted to allow the bacterium - Streptococcus pneumoniae - to specifically stick to the surface of the eye, grow, and cause damage and inflammation.
Many young women do not want to start taking the contraceptive pill because they are worried that they will put on weight, or come off it because they think that they have gained weight because of it. However, a thesis from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, has demonstrated that the combined contraceptive pill does not cause weight increase.
The aging baby boomers and subsequent generations will be looking to the food industry to provide products that can help them live longer, healthier and more active lives than previous generations, according to research presented at the Institute of Food Technologists' Wellness 12 meeting.
Chattem, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the sanofi-aventis Group, today announced the final results of its tender offer to repurchase any and all of its outstanding 2.00% convertible senior notes due 2013 and its outstanding 1.625% convertible senior notes due 2014 (the "1.625% Notes" and collectively, the "Notes").
