Results of the first-ever clinical drug trial for children with Progeria, a rare, fatal "rapid-aging" disease, demonstrate the efficacy of a farnesyltransferase inhibitor (FTI), a drug originally developed to treat cancer. Researchers have developed a technique that fuses magnetic resonance imaging with ultrasound to improve the detection and treatment of prostate cancer.
The findings are based on more than 8,000 senior civil servants working for the British government in London (The Whitehall Study II).
