The shortage of primary care doctors could worsen if funding for the Teaching Health Centers, a program to train medical residents in underserved areas, is eliminated. Loss of funding - which has already been drastically reduced - could disrupt the training of 550 current medical residents and cut off the pipeline of future primary care residents, says a new report conducted by the Geiger Gibson/RCHN Community Health Foundation Research Collaborative at Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University.
According to new Flinders University research parents who suffer abuse and neglect by their children need more support. The report found that almost half the victims interviewed were unable to get support.
NYU School of Medicine's Cosimo Commisso, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biochemistry, is the 2011 recipient of The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network-American Association for Cancer Research Fellowship, a one-year grant designed to support pancreatic cancer research.
In an effort to improve and strengthen their health care system Canadian Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh today announced a $75 million federal initiative that is expected to assist more than 2,000 internationally educated health care professionals to put their skills to work in Canada.
