A majority of medical schools surveyed report they have experienced incidents of students posting unprofessional content online, including incidents involving violation of patient confidentiality, with few schools having policies to address these types of postings, according to a study in the September 23/30 issue of JAMA, a theme issue on medical education.
Georgia State University has received a $3.1 million grant to test the effectiveness of combining two programs in a mobile phone application to decrease maternal depression and build parenting skills that promote infant social communication and emotional competencies.
A recent study from the United Kingdom, published in the open-access journal Vaccines, implies that vaccinating adolescents and children may be pivotal in reducing infections with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), as well as ensuing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) morbidity and mortality across all age groups.
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are one of the most common injuries to the knee. Each year thousands of patients undergo reconstructive surgery to repair these injuries. According to a new study published in the October 2009 issue of The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS), the number of patients undergoing ACL reconstruction is increasing substantially and women and younger patients are more likely to need subsequent knee surgery following the initial repair.
Reports that ambulances had to bypass or wait almost three hours at 15 overloaded Sydney emergency departments last night will become even more common, particularly as winter approaches, warns AMA (NSW).
