Smoking has been shown to have drastic consequences for lifespan and disease progression, and it has been suggested that cigarette exposure may impact the risk of death and disease via its acceleration of the aging process. Not all smokers experience early mortality, however, and a small proportion manage to survive to extreme ages.
In a study reported in the current issue of the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes, scientists from the National Development and Research Institutes, Inc. (NDRI) report on a study of street-recruited heroin users in New York City, who were not injecting, to determine the incidence and predictors of making a transition to injecting.
A study from investigators at MassGeneral Hospital for Children found that African-American or Hispanic children diagnosed with autism were significantly less likely than white children to have received subspecialty care or procedures related to conditions that often accompany autism spectrum disorders.
An optical illusion is usually a trick to the eyes into seeing something that is not there. The brain here perceives something that is actually not there and interprets it.
The American Department of Health and Human Services has released a set of guidelines this Monday (12th November 2018) regarding the amount of exercise individuals need in order to stay healthy. The guidance is aimed at the sedentary population warning them of the ill effects of not being physically active.
