Even people with blood pressure that is slightly above normal may be at an increased risk of stroke, according to a review of studies published in the September 28, 2011, online issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
A new study has revealed that the oldest and most widespread cancer cell line in the world is the contagious dog cancer called CTVT. This is among the few transmissible cancers. The canine transmissible venereal tumor (CTVT) has been found to cause sexually transmitted tumors in dogs for over 8,500 years.
Affymetrix, Inc., and eBioscience, Inc., a privately-held San Diego, CA-based company with an industry-leading position in flow cytometry and immunoassay reagents for immunology and oncology research and diagnostics, today announced they have amended their existing definitive agreement dated November 29, 2011 under which Affymetrix will acquire eBioscience.
A University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences research team led by Vladimir Zharov, Ph.D., D.Sc., has demonstrated the ability to detect and kill circulating tumor cells in the blood using a noninvasive device called Cytophone that integrates a laser, ultrasound and phone technologies.
Patients who develop posttraumatic stress disorder after stroke or transient ischemic attack are at high risk for being nonadherent to secondary prevention medications, say researchers.
