The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that reimbursements for Medicare heart transplant cases performed at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center will continue uninterrupted.
A new study published on the preprint server medRxiv* in November 2020 reports some of the unique elements of COVID-19-induced CRS and how understanding these distinctive characteristics of the disease could help in formulating specific interventions and therapies.
Salix Pharmaceuticals, Ltd. today announced the presentation of two analyses of data from its Phase 3 pivotal clinical trials, TARGET 1 and 2, demonstrating a 14-day course of XIFAXAN 550 mg (rifaximin) taken three times daily achieved adequate relief of symptoms of non-constipation irritable bowel syndrome (non-C IBS) in a significantly greater proportion of patients compared with placebo.
In the face of growing numbers of uninsured and low-income patients due to the economy, some free clinics are having difficulty meeting the increased demand, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Two years after the Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007 gave FDA new powers to require Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies for higher risk drugs and biologics, a new report concludes that an optimal future for REMS is possible if the agency adopts a systems approach when designing REMS programs and takes advantage of new technologies - from electronic medical records to genetic testing - that are changing the way medicine is practiced.
