A new study published in this month's issue of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology shows that the risk of cancer in kidney transplant recipients was reduced by more than 50% at five years post transplantation in those patients who were treated with sirolimus following withdrawal of cyclosporine at three months.
A team of researchers from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research's Genome Institute of Singapore and Bioprocessing Technology Institute, as well as Singapore Eye Research Institute, have identified a genetic mutation (functionally defective CYP39A1 gene) associated with exfoliation syndrome, the most common cause of glaucoma.
A single transplant of microbes contained in the stool of a healthy donor is a safe and effective way to increase diversity of good bacteria in the guts of patients with ulcerative colitis, according to new research from Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian.
