Implanted pumps improved heart function enough in a small percentage of patients awaiting a heart transplant that they were able to leave the hospital without a pump and without a new heart, according to a study in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.
A new study from the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy, with collaborators from Johns Hopkins University and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, found that infections caused by one of the most common drug resistant bacteria in the US-methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, known as MRSA-are no more expensive to treat than MSSA, the methicillin-susceptible version of the same bacteria.
The North Shore-LIJ Health System Department of Radiation Medicine announced today it is seeking patients with early-stage prostate cancer to participate in a Phase I Research study.
