Adolescents who have romantic relationships tend to have more problems with psychosocial adjustment. In contrast, young adults who have romantic relationships tend to have fewer problems with psychosocial adjustment. Although the links between having a romantic relationship and psychosocial adjustment change with age, a new longitudinal study has found that it's not just having a relationship that matters, but the quality of the relationship: Higher-quality romantic relationships are associated with fewer psychosocial difficulties across adolescence and young adulthood.
CANCER RESEARCH UK, with its commercial arm Cancer Research Technology, today announce that they have entered into an innovative collaboration with AstraZeneca and MedImmune, its global biologics research and development arm, to establish a joint laboratory in Cambridge, UK.
Achieving the secure nationwide exchange of health information and patient medical information using the Internet will be advanced by adopting existing standards, technology and currently used approaches to authenticate digital identities, according to testimony presented today to the National Health Information Network (NHIN) committee advising on the development of a nationwide health information infrastructure. The testimony was delivered by SAFE-BioPharma Association, the non-profit that developed and maintains the SAFE-BioPharma® digital identity and signature standard.
Using laboratory mice that had been bred to have brain changes similar to Alzheimer's disease, scientists were able to reduce two characteristic features of the disease by modifying the mice's immune systems with a special peptide (MOG45D) related to the myelin sheath that insulates nerve cells and nerve fibers. As a result, anti-inflammatory cells were recruited from the blood into the brain, dampening the local inflammatory response.
