A multi-disciplinary group from Stanford University (California, US) has proposed ten principles to guide the use of racial and ethnic categories in genetic research, as reported today in BioMed Central's open access journal Genome Biology.
Vanderbilt researchers this week reported updated findings regarding the benefits of behavior-focused therapies for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Grifols, a global healthcare company and leading producer of plasma therapies, and Alkahest, a Redwood City, California based, privately held biopharmaceutical company founded upon the pioneering work of Dr. Tony Wyss-Coray and other leading scientists at Stanford University, today announced that they have signed definitive agreements whereby Grifols will make a major equity investment in Alkahest, and the companies will work together to develop novel plasma-based products for the treatment of cognitive decline in aging and disorders of the central nervous system (CNS), including Alzheimer's.
As medical practices nationwide focus on "meaningful use" of electronic health records (EHRs), the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) reports encouraging findings from a survey of AMGA member medical groups. Although few groups have yet to fully achieve all the benefits they anticipated when they began implementation, virtually all groups now have even higher expectations for the potential of health IT, as a result of their experience.
