Researchers from Norway found that women with a pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) of 40 had an increased risk of vacuum extraction delivery or Cesarean section (C-section).
Ovarian cancer survivors, their friends and families, local businesses, corporate teams and employees of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center will join forces May 5 at the 15th annual Sprint for Life 5K Run/Walk and Sprint for Sprouts Kids' Run. The approximately 3,000 participants will come together for a common cause: to build awareness of ovarian cancer and raise funds for research.
Three locations will each receive $100,000 in funding to launch pilot programs to improve colorectal cancer screening rates and follow-up care for patients served by community health centers. The program is the work of the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable and is part of the group's effort to reach the goal of 80 percent of adults 50 and over receiving regular screening for colorectal cancer by 2018.
The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Northwestern Memorial Hospital will host a public forum and scientific workshop Oct. 14 to 16 to discuss emerging issues of importance for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for women's health research in the coming decade.
