From a clinical-based perspective, postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) can be characterized as an unmet global phenomenon in which anesthesia practitioners and PACU nurses worldwide are seeking more efficient clinical strategies for preventing PONV.
PathCentral, a technology-enabled company dedicated to the success of the international pathology community, and China-based Kindstar Globalgene Technology, Inc., today announced the roll-out of the PathCentral Pathology Network, an online professional pathology network that will enable Kindstar to access US pathologists and facilitate pathology consultations for more than 3,300 hospitals throughout China.
Canadians will benefit from new insights into the link between physical activity and health as the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health, today announced funding for four research teams through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. These teams will study the effects of exercise on the body and its role in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases including arthritis, breast cancer and heart disease.
Researchers from Michigan State University and Stanford University have designed special nanoparticles which could break down an atherosclerotic plaque from within. This could prevent heart attacks say researchers. The study titled, "Pro-efferocytic nanoparticles are specifically taken up by lesional macrophages and prevent atherosclerosis," was published in the latest issue of the journal Nature Nanotechnology.
