Gestational diabetes can be prevented by a simple, easily applicable individualized lifestyle intervention in high-risk women, finds a study led by Helsinki University Hospital and South Karelia Central Hospital, Finland. The results of the study are promising, and in line with previous published T2D prevention studies. The findings may have major health consequences for both the mother and the child.
The National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) has launched a broad policy template on sharing research data and biological samples, which will help to streamline the governance requirements for biomedical research which uses such resources.
Varian Medical Systems, today announced the Maryland Proton Treatment Center successfully completed its first patient treatment with the Varian ProBeam system. The MPTC at the University of Maryland BioPark in West Baltimore houses five treatment rooms and is the first in the Eastern US to offer image-guided intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) with a ProBeam system.
