NanoBio has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the company's Investigational New Drug (IND) application for the Phase 1 clinical study of NB-1008, a seasonal influenza vaccine administered via a nasal dropper.
Two Philadelphia-based national organizations, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and the African Methodist Episcopal Church, are launching a landmark partnership aimed at helping children of single, low-income and incarcerated parents succeed. The Father's Day weekend announcement comes as Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across the nation face waiting lists disproportionately represented by African American boys.
Legal experts are reviewing a recent ruling by the Supreme Court which involved the Commerce Clause, the central point in pending challenges to the health overhaul.
Implants are usually the first choice for breast reconstruction after mastectomy. But when implant-based reconstruction fails, autologous reconstruction - using the patient's own tissues - is a safe procedure that improves patient outcomes, reports a study in the February issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
New study findings link traveling to an academic medical center for surgical removal of pancreatic or thyroid cancer with higher quality surgical care for both cancers, and longer survival for patients with pancreatic cancer compared with patients who receive treatment at a hospital closer to home.
