Oncotarget published "JunD accentuates arecoline-induced disruption of tight junctions and promotes epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition by association with NEAT1 lncRNA" which reported that the effects of low and high concentrations of arecoline on the stability of tight junctions and EMT induction were studied.
Though a small group of proteins, the family called Ras controls a large number of cellular functions, including cell growth, differentiation, and survival. And because the protein has a hand in cellular division, mutated Ras, which can be detected in one-third of all tumors, contributes to many human cancers by allowing for the rapid growth of diseased cells.
A research team led by Dr Rosario Delgado from the UAB Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Hospital de MatarĂ³, developed a new machine learning-based model that predicts the risk of mortality of intensive care unit patients according to their characteristics.
Research examining adults with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) who participated in rehabilitation showed that they were twice as likely to die from an unintentional injury that occurred following their TBI.
