People who received frequent dental x-rays in the past have an increased risk of developing the most commonly diagnosed primary brain tumor in the United States. That is the finding of a study published early online in Cancer, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society.
Given the increased interest in sports and exercise around the Olympics underway in Tokyo, events such as the Summer Games represent an unrealized opportunity to improve global health, finds a new Lancet study from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis.
Each year over a million people suffer from sepsis, a condition caused by an infection spreading through the body. If sepsis develops into severe sepsis then the death rate can rise to nearly 30 - 50%, equalling the number of deaths caused by a heart attack.
Lymphatic vessels exposed to fast-flowing blood take on characteristics associated with blood vessels, report researchers.
"Nearly 780 million people are deprived of safe drinking water - and 2.5 billion lack access to improved sanitation - all because governments aren't spending scarce resources wisely, according to a joint report of the World Health Organization and U.N.-Water," VOA News reports.
