Brookdale Senior Living Inc. today announced that it has entered into a definitive asset purchase agreement with affiliates of Sunrise Senior Living, Inc.to acquire 21 senior living communities that are currently owned by those affiliates for an aggregate purchase price of $204 million plus customary transaction expenses.
Parents with a higher number of stressors in their lives are more likely to have obese children, according to a new study by pediatric researchers. Furthermore, when parents perceive themselves to be stressed, their children eat fast food more often, compared to children whose parents feel less stressed.
Mastectomy has historically been the standard treatment for breast cancer patients experiencing recurrence after an initial lumpectomy and whole-breast radiation. Now, a phase 2 clinical trial led by Douglas W. Arthur, M.D., chair and professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at VCU Massey Cancer Center and VCU School of Medicine, has demonstrated an effective alternative.
Researchers at Harvard-affiliated McLean Hospital and the University of Utah have developed the best biologically based test for autism to date. The test was able to detect the disorder in individuals with high-functioning autism with 94 percent accuracy. The study will be published online the week of November 29th in Autism Research.
Although the USD 90 million European tissue sealants market is in the growth phase, the rate of growth is projected to be gradual due to sluggish technological advancements, the slow pace of collecting clinical evidence and unclear product demarcations. Moreover, while around 35 per cent of all internal surgical procedures offer the potential for sealants' use, their deployment has been limited to only a few procedures.
