Conventional wisdom has long been negative on Africa. Historically, it has been seen as a failing continent, plagued by deep-rooted problems - poverty, corruption, war, and disease. The Muscular Dystrophy Association today celebrated news of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's decision to grant approval for nusinersen (brand name Spinraza), the first disease-modifying drug to treat the most common genetic cause of death in infants.
The discovery of a novel protein that links aging and age-dependent retinal diseases could lead to potential new treatments for conditions that cause sight loss in later life.
Kool Smiles, a leading dental health provider for children and adults, now has opened its doors to additional families in Texas with a new office location in San Angelo. Kool Smiles of San Angelo officially opened on February 7 as the organization continues to expand access to quality dental care for families in underserved communities across the nation.
