Many US patients with liver cancer-even those with early stage disease that can often be cured-do not receive treatment for their disease, according to an analysis of studies published between 1989 and 2013.
Reduced levels of plasmalogens-;a class of lipids created in the liver that are integral to cell membranes in the brain-;are associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer's Disease, according to new research presented this week at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference 2018 by Mitchel A. Kling, MD, an associate professor of Psychiatry in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
New York City health officials on Wednesday are scheduled to unveil the city's official condom as part of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's efforts to curb the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, the AP/Long Island Newsday reports.
Exactly when and where individual neurons develop is as important to our understanding of brain diseases as the underlying genetics, experts have shown.
If a driver is traveling to New York City, I-95 might be their route of choice. But they could also take I-78, I-87 or any number of alternate routes. Most cancers begin similarly, with many possible routes to the same disease.
