The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), with the support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, announces the latest addition to the library of NCCN Guidelines for PatientsTM, patient-friendly translations of the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology.
Noting Sunday "was World Health Day, and marked the 65th anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization," Andrea Durkin, senior director of global government affairs and policy for Abbott, writes in the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition blog.
Emerging concerns that common antihypertensive treatment approaches with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) – jointly known as renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) inhibitors – may exert a negative effect in COVID-19 patients are not grounded in scientific evidence, as reported by researchers in a recent review article published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings journal.
Shire plc, the global specialty biopharmaceutical company, announced new data about the pharmacokinetics of its Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) medication, Vyvanse- (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate) Capsules CII, which showed that Vyvanse provided similar concentrations of its active medication in the blood when administered either intranasally or when administered orally.
Researchers have made a device that could sour the waters of the seas for microbes and also detect which of these could develop antimicrobial resistance. This could quantify the threat they pose to the ecosystems. This portable device and the trial with it were reported in the latest issue of the journal Scientific Reports. The study was titled, "Electrical impedance as an indicator of microalgal cell health."
