The University of Kansas Cancer Center will present preclinical evidence supporting Ciclopirox Prodrug (CPX-POM), an anti-cancer agent currently in Phase I clinical trials, at the American Association for Cancer Research 2018 Annual Meeting in Chicago. Ciclopirox Prodrug was discovered by researchers at The University of Kansas Cancer Center and KU's Institute for Advancing Medical Innovation.
Use of a new drug to detect the beta-amyloid plaques in the brain that are hallmark signs of Alzheimer's disease may help doctors diagnose the disease earlier, according to research that will be presented as part of the Emerging Science program (formerly known as Late-Breaking Science) at the American Academy of Neurology's 64th Annual Meeting in New Orleans April 21 to April 28, 2012.
Xenomics, Inc. a developer of trans-renal molecular diagnostic technologies, announced today that it has filed a complaint against Sequenom, Inc. in the Supreme Court of the State of New York alleging that Sequenom fraudulently misrepresented to Xenomics the status of its testing for Down Syndrome and based upon such conduct, Xenomics was induced to enter into a license agreement with Sequenom thereby giving up various valuable patent rights.
One of the most distinctive signs of the development of Alzheimer's disease is a change in the behavior of a protein that neuroscientists call tau. In normal brains, tau is present in individual units essential to neuron health. In the cells of Alzheimer's brains, by contrast, tau proteins aggregate into twisted structures known as "neurofibrillary tangles."
