Tufts Medical Center today reiterated its commitment to providing high quality care to patients following notification by the Massachusetts Nurses Association and its parent union National Nurses United of a walkout beginning May 6th.
Genticel, a French biotechnology company and developer of innovative immunotherapies to prevent cancers caused by the human papillomavirus, today announces that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared Genticel's Investigational New Drug application to conduct in the US a phase 1 clinical study of GTL001 in patients infected with HPV 16 and/or 18, the two HPV types responsible for 70% of cervical cancer cases.
The diagnosis and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) have dramatically improved over recent decades due to scientific advancements, yet MS persists as one of the most disabling neurological disorders, having a significant impact on young adults - the age group most affected by the disease.
Impaired social function is a cardinal symptom of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). One of the brain circuits that enable us to relate to other people is the "mirror neuron" system. This brain circuit is activated when we watch other people, and allows our brains to represent the actions of others, influencing our ability to learn new tasks and to understand the intentions and experiences of other people.
The so-called "male lumpectomy" - a minimally invasive interventional radiology treatment for prostate cancer - is as effective as surgery in destroying diseased tumors and can be considered a first-line treatment for patients of all risk levels and particularly those who have failed radiation, according to studies released at the Society of Interventional Radiology's 34th Annual Scientific Meeting.
